What are defences and protections?

These are structures and protection elements that are installed at key points on the chassis and engine to dissipate the energy of a blow or fall, the new models are designed to limit damage to the crankcase, covers, radiator, fairings and fuel tank. They are mainly manufactured in steel, , aluminium or technical polymers (POM/Delrin) and are modelled for each bike in order to ensure compatibility, rigidity and clean assembly.

Choice-by-use guide

Installation and best practices (for mechanics and handymen)

1. Check compatibility by make, model and year (also Euro/ABS version).
2. Read the manual of the kit: assembly order, tightening torques and use of threadlocker.
3. Presents dry all parts before final tightening.
4. Tightening torque with torque wrench according to specification (e.g. M8 ≈ 22-28 Nm unless specified by the manufacturer).
5. Re-tighten after 300-500 km, and after any crash or intense off-road route.

Maintenance and security

1. Inspect welding and fasteners every 3,000-5,000 km.
2. After a fall, check alignment, cracks and pinching.
3. Protect the coating with neutral cleaners; avoid aggressive solvents.
4. If surface rust is present, fine sandpaper + compatible powder coating/powder coating.

Common mistakes to avoid

1. Assembly without following the order of the parts or without bushings → unwanted chassis stresses.
2. Reuse of non-original or low-quality fasteners.
3. Forget about retightening after the first few kilometres or after a fall.
4. Install accessories that interfere with unverified anchorage points (stand/cases).
