More🏁 SBS Brakes: Scandinavian technology for braking power
SBS (Scandinavian Brake Systems) is one of the most recognised brands in the world in braking systems for motorbikes. Founded in Denmark more than 50 years ago, the company has been a leader in the development of high performance pads, discs and clutches, combining technical innovation, sustainability and racing experience.
From MotoGP to everyday road use, SBS brings track technology to the tarmac, guaranteeing powerful, controlled and durable braking for demanding riders, mechanics and motorcyclists.
⚙️ Cutting-edge technology with racing DNA
The philosophy of SBS is clear: "From the track to the road". Each product is developed and tested in real racing conditions before reaching the market, ensuring superior performance in both high temperature and prolonged use.
🔬 Research, development and certified quality
SBS has its own laboratories and works under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, as well as ECE R90 approval, which guarantees the safety and quality of all its brake pads.
The company also applies advanced sintering processes, laser friction control and progressive heat treatment to achieve stable coefficients of friction even under extreme conditions.
🧠 "Dynamic Racing Concept" technology
SBS developed the DRC (Dynamic Racing Concept), which combines:
- Optimised compression of the friction material.
- Controlled thermal transfer.
- Brake module stable even at over 600 °C.
The result: a more linear braking feel, greater control and minimal rider fatigue.
🧩 Complete product range SBS
SBS offers complete solutions for street, track, off-road and scooter, covering the entire braking and braking system transmission.
🟥 Brake Pads SBS
🏁 Dual Sinter (DS, DS-1, DS-2) - Professional competition
The SBS Dual Sinter are the standard in WorldSBK and MotoAmerica. Manufactured with double metal sintering, they offer:
- Constant hot and cold coefficient of friction.
- Minimal wear and very high resistance to thermal fatigue.
- Immediate lever response with progressive feel.
- FIM Racing Certification.
👉 Recommended for: professional drivers, trackdays and race team mechanics.
🟧 Dual Carbon (DC) - Balanced power and modulation
Designed for competition or intense sports driving.
- Friction material with carbon fibre and synthetic resins.
- Excellent temperature control and precise feel.
- Stable and modulated braking even after several laps on the track.
👉 Ideal for sports bikes, superbikes and endurance racing.
🟨 Sintered (HS, LS, MS, PS) - Versatility for daily and touring use
These pads are the most popular pads for road and touring motorbikes.
- High performance in both wet and dry conditions.
- High durability and low abrasion of the disc.
- Optimised design for clamps Brembo, nissin or Tokico.
Recommended for mechanics and workshops looking for a reliable and easy-to-install product.
🟩 Ceramics and Organics (HF, CT, RS) - Comfort and softness
Ideal for city bikes and scooters.
- Non-asbestos ceramic composites.
- Quiet and progressive braking.
- Reduced disc wear and easy maintenance.
Perfect for urban and everyday use where softness is a priority.
Brake Discs SBS
SBS manufactures fixed and floating discs in high quality stainless steel to CNC tolerances.
- Increased heat dissipation and reduced risk of deformation.
- Ventilated" design to improve airflow and reduce weight.
- Racing, Street and Off-Road specific versions.
Floating discs SBS Supersport wheels feature light alloy expansion rings and centres, ensuring linear braking even under extreme braking.
🟫 Clutches and Friction Kits SBS
SBS also manufactures complete clutch kits and friction discs from advanced Kevlar and carbon materials.
- Smooth and precise power transmission.
- Excellent thermal resistance.
- Superior durability compared to OEM clutches.
👉 Designed for mechanics, motocross riders and racing motorbikes looking for maximum response under stress.
🔧 Technical tips for installation and maintenance
- Initial shooting ("Bedding-in"): SBS recommends a break-in process of 200-300 km or 10 progressive braking cycles to achieve the ideal heat transfer between pad and disc.
- Verification of components: Before installing new pads, check:
▪️El disc thickness (minimum 4 mm).
▪️Ausencia of grooves or deformations.
▪️Pinzas clean and lubricated pistons. - Correct assembly: Use ceramic grease on the back of the pad (not on the friction material) and torque according to the manufacturer's manual.
- Periodic replacement: SBS advises to check the brake pads every 6,000-8,000 km or sooner if there is sporty driving or heavy use.
🌿 Commitment to sustainability
SBS was one of the first companies to remove copper and heavy metals from its compounds, complying with REACH and RoHS regulations.
In addition, its production plants in Denmark operate under ISO 14001, reducing emissions and industrial waste.
👉 This makes SBS into a technologically advanced and environmentally responsible brand.
